Skinopi Lodge
Why it made our list: Something shifts when you arrive here, in the quality of the silence, the wildness of the land and especially the way the team makes you feel like the only guests on the island. So good you almost don’t want to share it. Almost.

At a Glance
Seven stone villas sit above the Bay of Milos, named after the herbs that grow around them. Kapari, Thymari, Levanda. The architecture is by Kokkinou-Kourkoulas, designed in the spirit of the Syrmata, the traditional fishermen’s houses of the village below. Retractable glass doors, outdoor kitchens, indoor-outdoor showers. As little between you and the landscape as possible.
There is no pool, and that is very intentional. The Aegean is directly below, reached by steps carved into the rock. Breakfast arrives in a basket at your door. No restaurant on site, but this is not a place that leaves you to figure things out alone. The team will stock your kitchen, arrange a private chef, or book you a table at exactly the right place for the evening. Boat trips to Kleftiko, lunch on Kimolos, snorkelling above the sulphur springs. They know this island, and they share it generously. Consistently one of our clients’ most talked-about stays in Greece.
Our Take: Not a hotel in any conventional sense, and that is precisely the point. There are stays and there are experiences that stay with you forever. Skinopi is the latter.
