Minos Palace
Why it made our list: Its own peninsula, the Aegean on three sides, and not a single person under eighteen. Minos Palace is the grown-up Crete stay: a Blue Flag beach, a proper longevity clinic if you want it, cocktails by Baba au Rum if you don’t, and 150 rooms that all face the sea. The pace here is slow by design, not by accident.

At a Glance
A low cluster of white buildings on a headland between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda, with Mirabello Bay curving around it. The look is mineral and restrained: limewashed walls, olive wood, grey stone, natural tones that sit with the landscape rather than against it. Some rooms face east for the sunrise over open water; others west for sunset behind the mountains and the scattered lights of town. There’s an art collection too, over 70 works by Greek and international artists from the G & A Mamidakis Foundation, spread across the resort and sister property Minos Beach Art Hotel. You can follow it with a guided tour or the Smartify app.
Days here have a rhythm without a schedule. Morning yoga on the headland, the infinity pool or the Blue Flag beach by late morning, lunch from the herb garden at mom. If you want to leave, a yacht through the Elounda Gulf, a day trip to Spinalonga, the gorges at Richtis or Sarakina, the women’s weaving cooperatives at Kritsa, or Knossos are all within reach. If you don’t, there’s a PADI diving centre, tennis, bikes and a wine library. The nao Longevity Hub offers something more structured for those who are interested: personalised programmes from one to fourteen days, cryo chamber, infrared sauna, plunge pools, diagnostics, all built around the science of ageing. It is a genuine differentiator, but it’s there if you want it, not imposed if you don’t. At the nama pool bar, cocktails are by Baba au Rum, ranked No. 27 on the World’s 50 Best Bars.
Our Take: An adults-only resort on Crete’s quieter eastern coast that does the fundamentals well, with a longevity clinic and a world-class cocktail programme for anyone who wants more than a sunbed.
Rooms We Love
A private freshwater pool with a waterfall feature, outdoor daybeds, walk-in closet, and west-facing views that earn their keep at sunset. 61 sqm.
No private pool, but a generous living area, walk-in closet and a balcony with a horizon line that makes you put your phone down. The best option if you’d rather spend the premium on experiences than a pool you might not use. 46 sqm.
Outdoor daybeds, walk-in closet, and a splendid choice for couples who want to swim without an audience. 38 sqm.
Dining
mom: The all-day restaurant, with both buffet and à la carte. The kitchen draws from the resort’s own herb and vegetable gardens.
Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 am to 10:00 am
nama Pool Bar: Cocktails by Baba au Rum (No. 27, World’s 50 Best Bars, 2025). Worth ordering from even if you’re just passing through on the way to the beach
amar: Beachside Mediterranean, open for dinner. Sharing plates, locally sourced, and a kitchen team that guests come back to across seasons.
mosa Beach Bar: Cocktails and light bites on the Blue Flag beach. The more laid-back of the two bars, with views across the coves
