Monsieur Didot
Why it made our list: A six room literary residence, run by people who know Athens inside out and want you to love it as much as they do. The building is the draw but the owners are the reason you come back.

At a Glance
A restored 1890 neoclassical mansion in Kolonaki with six individually designed rooms. Hand-painted ceilings, a marble staircase, original fireplaces and bookshelves throughout. One room has a secret door to the bathroom hidden behind a bookcase. It’s that kind of place.
Run by best friends Natalia and Margarita, with Natalia’s sister Tatiana managing day to day. Six rooms means they know who you are. Breakfast is homemade and Greek, served in-room each morning. When the weather warms up, the rooftop opens for coffee, breakfast and easy city views.
Kolonaki is right outside. Bookshops, galleries, cafés and some of the best restaurants in Athens are within a few minutes’ walk. Syntagma is 10 minutes on foot, the Acropolis about 15.
Our Take: A calm, personal city escape with genuine service. For the traveller who prefers character over check-in desks.
Rooms We Love
A corner room on the first floor with a carved marble fireplace and a bookcase that opens into the bathroom. Compact but full of character. 28 sqm.
Ground floor suite with its own entrance from a leafy pedestrian street. King bed, sofa bed and a separate living area. Feels self-contained in a way the upper rooms don’t. 40 sqm
The largest suite, sleeping up to four. Two exotic plants are part of the design, which makes more sense when you’re there. 49 sqm.
Dining
In-Room Breakfast Homemade and Greek. Local cheeses, eggs, yogurt, honey and handmade marmalade, served in your room or on the rooftop terrace in warmer months. Breakfast is included for Filita clients.
All-Day Menu Light snacks and Greek deli products available throughout the day. Wine tastings paired with Greek dishes can be arranged on the terrace.
There is no restaurant on-site, but the concierge will steer you well.
